Change Internet Explorer Search Provider From Bing To Google in Windows 8

By now you probably already know that Bing is Microsoft Search Engine and comes with Windows 8 as the default search engine for Internet Explorer. It’s not bad, and really have some cool features, like Facebook integration and cool images as backgrounds that are not yet available in Google Search Engine, but many still prefer Google Search Engine over Bing. This brief tutorial is going to show you how to switch your default search provider in Internet Explorer using Windows 8. If you prefer Google Search over Bing, then you might want to change to it in IE. I am not recommending that everyone go and begin changing their default search provider in Windows 8. I personally prefer Google over Bing and I think Google does a better job providing results for my searches. Some out there might disagree with me, and that will be just fine. This tutorial is not going to fight the battle between Google Search Engine and Microsoft Search Engine. That battle will be fought by others. All I am going to do here is show you how to switch from Bing to Google if you want to. And if you’re fine with Bing as your default search provider for Internet Explorer, then more power unto you. You can skip to the next tutorial below. To get started, open Internet Explorer from your desktop. I am not referring to the Internet Explorer from Metro. Press the Windows Key + D or click ‘Desktop’ from Windows 8 tile to show your desktop. From there launch Internet Explorer. Change The Location Where Windows Apps Get Installed In Windows 8

Installing programs from other sources in Windows 8 is the same as in Windows 7. You’re given an option to choose where to store the program’s content on your local computer. By default, programs get stored in C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) for 64-bit machines. That’s how it’s always been. In Windows 8, that has changed, especially when installing apps from Windows store. They’re automatically installed in a pre-defined location on your local computer. That location is always going to be C:\Program Files\WindowsApps. To view this location you must enable hidden file view because that folder is hidden. To learn how to enable hidden files in Windows 8, please read this post. This brief tutorial is going to show you how to change that location to something else. If you’re running out of storage space on your location machine and you want to make sure all new installations of Windows apps are installed somewhere else, then changing the default location is the best solution. To get started, press the Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box. When it opens, type the commands below and press Enter. windows8_store_location Next, expand these folder: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx windows8_store_location_1 By default the administrator doesn’t have full rights to this folder’s registry keys. You must take ownership of it before you can make changes to it. To take ownership, right-click the folder and select ‘Permissions’ windows8_store_location_4 Next, click Advanced button windows8_store_location_6 Then click the Change link as show below windows8_change_store_location Next, type your username and click ‘Check Names’. If it’s correct click OK to take ownership of the folder. windows8_change_store_location_2 After taking ownership of the folder and clicking ‘OK, the windows should close and bring you back to the previous screen. On this screen, select the Administrators group and give it full control as shown below and click OK. windows8_change_store_location_3 Next, right-click ‘PackageRoot’ and select Modify. windows8_change_store_location_4 Finally, change the location to whatever you want it to be. Mine is W:\WindowsApps. windows8_store_location_8 Now all you have to do is go and copy the WindowsApps folder from C:\Program Files and copy WindowsApps to the new location. You must enable hidden file before you’ll be able to see it. After that, reboot and try installing programs. If everything works, then you’re good. If you have time you can go back to the registry and make TrustedInstaller the owner of Appx folder. It won’t break the change you already made. NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller Enjoy!

Every time you open Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote or Publisher you’re met with a start screen. The startup screen shows you most recent documents as well as template that you can use to create new documents. I don’t know about you, but this is annoying and this tutorial is going to show you how to disable it in Microsoft Office Suite 2013. While it can be disabled entirely in Office 2013 at once from the registry, the easiest way to do it is by individually opening each program and turning the feature off. டெஸ்க்டொப்பில் Safely Remove Hardware வசதி

இன்றைய காலகட்டத்தில் கணணியை பயன்படுத்துபவர்களின் எண்ணிக்கை நாளுக்கு நாள் அதிகரித்துக் கொண்டே செல்கின்றது. பெரும்பாலும் பென்டிரைவில் தகவல்களை சேமித்து வைத்திருப்போம். பென்டிரைவை கணணியில் பயன்படுத்தி நீக்கும் போது, Safely Remove Hardware என்பதை கிளிக் செய்து விட்டு தான் நீக்க வேண்டும். ஆனால் நாம் சில முறை இதை மறந்து விடுவோம், இதனால் பென்டிரைவ் பழுதடைவதற்கான வாய்ப்பு அதிகம். அதுமட்டுமல்லாமல் முக்கியமான சில கோப்புகளை இழக்கவும் வாய்ப்புள்ளது. இதற்கான காரணம் என்று பார்த்தால் அந்த Safely Remove Hardware Option ஆனது டாஸ்க் பாரின் வலது மூலையில் ஒளிந்திருக்கும், எனவே நாம் அதை கவனிப்பதில்லை. இதற்கு மாற்றாக உங்கள் Desktop-இல் நீங்கள் ரைட் கிளிக் செய்யும் போது Safely Remove Hardware என்று வரும்படி செய்யலாம். விண்டோஸ் 7ல் இதை செய்வதற்கு, Win Button +R கொடுத்து வரும் Run விண்டோவில் "regedit" என்பதை கொடுத்து ok கொடுக்கவும். பின்பு அதில் உள்ள HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT என்பதை கண்டுபிடித்து கிளிக் செய்து பின் அதில் வரும் Desktop Background Option - இல் Shell என்பதை கிளிக் செய்யவும், (அதாவது HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTDesktopBackgroundShell ) உங்களுக்கு ஓபன் ஆகும் விண்டோவில், தற்போது Shellஐ ரைட் கிளிக் செய்யுங்கள், அதில் New--> Key என்பதை கொடுத்து Safely Remove Hardware என்ற தலைப்பில் ஒரு புதிய கீயை உருவாக்கி கொள்ளுங்கள். தற்பொழுது Safely Remove Hardware -இல் Right Click செய்தால் புதிதாக ஒரு string value உருவாக்கி கொள்ள Option வரும். அதற்கு தலைப்பு icon என கொடுங்கள். icon ஐ டபிள் கிளிக் செய்யுங்கள், அதற்கு Value Data: hotplug.dll,-100 என்று கொடுங்கள். தற்பொழுது Safely Remove Hardware -இல் மறுபடி Right Click செய்து புதிதாக ஒரு Key உருவாக்கி கொள்ளுங்கள். அதற்கு தலைப்பு command என கொடுங்கள். அதன் உள்ளே மதிப்பு ஒன்று default என்ற பெயரில் இருக்கும், இதை டபுள் கிளிக் செய்து நீங்கள் அதற்கு இந்த Value கொடுக்க வேண்டும் C:WindowsSystem32control.exe hotplug.dll இதன் பின் உங்கள் Desktop-இல் நீங்கள் ரைட் கிளிக் செய்யும் போது Safely Remove Hardware என்று வரும்.

RAM கணணியின் வேகத்தை அதிகரிப்பத​ற்கு

கணணியின் வன்றட்டில் அதிகளவு கோப்புக்களை சேமித்தல், அளவிற்கு அதிகமான மென்பொருட்களை நிறுவுதல் போன்ற செயற்பாடுகளால் RAM கணணியின் வேகம் குறைவடையும். இவை தவிர ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஒன்றிற்கு மேற்பட்ட பயனற்ற மென்பொருள் பிரயோகங்களை திறந்து வைத்திருப்பதன் மூலமும் RAM கணணியின் வேகம் குறைவடைகின்றது. இதற்குக் காரணம் திறந்த நிலையில் உள்ள மென்பொருட்கள் RAMன் இடத்தை நிரப்புவதாகும். ஆகவே இவ்வாறு திறந்த நிலையில் இருக்கும் மென்பொருட்களை பாவனையற்ற சந்தர்ப்பங்களில் Minimize செய்வதன் மூலம் RAMல் இடம் குறிப்பிட்ட அளவு காலியாகி கணணியின் வேகம் அதிகரிக்கின்றது. இதனைப் பரிசோதிக்கும் பொருட்டு 1. MS Word பிரயோக மென்பொருளை திறக்கவும். 2.CTRL+SHIFT+ESC ஆகிய கீக்களை அழுத்துவதன் மூலம் Windows Task Managerஐ Open செய்ய வேண்டும். அதில் Process என்பதை அழுத்தி WINWORD.EXEன் Mem Usageஐ தெரிந்து கொள்ளலாம். 3.இப்போது MS Wordஐ Minimize செய்து மீண்டும் WINWORD.EXEன் Mem Usageஐ சரிபார்க்கவும். முன்னைய அளவை விடவும் தற்போது குறைவாகவே காணப்படும். எனவே தற்காலிகமாக பயனற்ற மென்பொருட்களை Minimize செய்வதன் மூலம் கணணி RAMன் வேகத்தை அதிகரிக்க முடியும்.

I recently again came up with the situation that Windows Genuine Notification popped up because Windows Update again installed it via Automatic Updates. It pops up while a user logs in to windows, displays a message near the system tray and keeps on reminding you in between work that the copy of windows is not genuine. It has been reported since its first release that even genuine users are getting this prompt, so Microsoft has them self release instructions for its removal. When I searched on Google about this issue, I landed up on pages which were providing many methods of its removal including those patching up existing files with their cracked versions which I would highly recommend avoiding them as they might contain malicious code and can be used to get you into more trouble. I found out this method of removal of Windows Genuine Notification : Launch Windows Task Manager. End wgatray.exe process in Task Manager. Restart Windows XP in Safe Mode. Delete WgaTray.exe from C:\Windows\System32. Delete WgaTray.exe from C:\Windows\System32\dllcache. Launch RegEdit. Browse to the following location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Notify Delete the folder WgaLogon and all its contents Reboot Windows XP. But the latest version of the WGN tool is a little tricky to handle. It will pop up again as soon as you end it from the task manager and while it is running in the memory, you can’t delete it too. Here is how I did it : Ignore Step #2 of ending wgatray.exe before restarting to Safe Mode as it serves no purpose. At Step #4, wait on the deletion confirmation dialog box and then open task manager to end wgatray.exe When you are again prompted for a confirmation for terminating the process, align that confirmation box over the delete confirmation box. Press Yes on the Task Manager prompt and then quickly press Yes on the deletion confirmation. (You need to repeat this if you miss it) If you did it quickly then you will be able to delete the file. Step #5 can be missed. I was able to do it without the Step #5. Complete Step 6 to 9 as instructed. After you have followed all the above instructions, then Go to Control Panel > Security Center > Automatic Update Settings. Select the third option “Notify me but don’t automatically download or install them“. Click Ok. Now when Windows Updates icon will appear in the system tray (it will take some time), click on the icon and it will display a list of available updates. This time unselect the checkbox of Windows Genuine Advantage Notification Tool, and click on Download. Select “Don’t notify my about these updates again” so it will ignored every time updates are downloaded. From the next time, make sure to check the list of download so that you might not install any new version of this tool.
